I know that out there a million Burke fans are sending whatever vegetable items they can to Shonda, begging for Burkes return. Matt over at Fancast got an answer for you. I don’t think that the Burke-ites out there will like it.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ should bring back Burke – but it doesn’t have to be the same actor. If not Isaiah Washington, try someone new. That could be a nice storyline for Cristina. – Annette in Comments
I’m glad you shared this sentiment, because I made the exact same pitch to ‘Grey’s’ creator Shonda Rhimes. I mean, why introduce some new doc played by Kim Raver when a return by Burke (even via a recast) could really rattle the rafters? Rhimes’ response: “First of all, you can’t recast Burke. As far as I’m concerned, none of these [cast members] are recastable.” As for ever addressing any business left unfinished when Burke ran out on Yang, Rhimes countered, “No, I feel like we really played that storyline out in the way we meant to play it out – and I think it worked.”

So, uh… I guess no means no. What is your take on it Gabblers? Does Greys need Burke back? Could he be recast? Or do you agree with Shonda. Let sleeping cardithorasic surgeons lie.

While I do agree that bringing Burke back would be one hell of a storyline (seriously, that episode or episodes would be so interesting), I don’t think it is entirely necessary. I think everybody’s moved on for the most part and so while it’d be a great storyline for the show, it doesn’t need to actually happen. Although I do think it’d be great to bring him back at least for an episode in the final season…
@Adam, Totally agree. I’d love to see him come back but as you say, it isn’t really necessary. I can’t see any real reason for him to come back, though I would be really excited if he actually would.

I really loved Preston Burkee, I still do, but the actor is an ass -.- So I don’t wanna see him in Grey’s again! I loved Burke and Cristina relationship! But we don’t need that again. We can’t move backwords, we need to keep moving forward

I loved him but that storyline is over. People need to get over it and move on! I am so sick of people talking about him coming back like you guys he was fired!!! He did not just leave on his own terms, he was fired because he was an ass off-screen. And to even think that they can bring him back as another actor is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!! It is stupid for people to even think that it would work. Wow!! Okay sorry my ramble is over, just had to get that off my chest.

I loved Burke. He was an amazing surgeon. And I really loved Cristina and Preston’s relationship. They were really good together and had great chemistry. But their storyline is over and it had been for a while… as 3CheersForTyranny said we can’t move backwords, only moving foward

I think we are only asking Burke back because the romance has STALLED big time for Owen and Cristina and I’m a little afraid that chemistry between the 2 is dying because of of very little intense action screen time . Bring back Season 5 chemistry. tHis season is dead – too much ER style drama. YAWN…. bring Burke back only to spice things up. At this point – Cris& Burke’s hotter than Cris & Owen. Sorry.
