6.07: Practice Makes Perfect

Oh my God guys I actually have substantial material to work with this week! I am in shock still! For me, when I first heard that it was going to be a Derek episode I was not expecting any Owina scenes at all. I was still excited to see Derek kick some tumor ass but I was a little sad to not see any other people. Then! A miracle occurred and we got no not one but four Owina scenes!! It was like my heart had exploded and my world had awoken again! So on that obsessed and a little crazy note, lets get started talking about 6.07 Give Peace a Chance…
So it opens with a Derek voice-over which was totally awesome but what was more awesome was that the first scene had Cristina in it. Derek is absolutely adorable asking Cristina how she is doing and putting her on his service because he knows she is sad. He must be the nicest husband ever to do that for his his wife’s best friend who he has never fully gotten along with. It made me so happy to see him care about her. Cristina of course gets mad and says “Your wife is dead, as soon as her liver grows back, she’s dead” Classic Cristina to say this and totally hilarious. So moving on I am very excited to see Cristina be on somebody’s service for once and I am hoping to see her kick some neuro ass but it does not turn out so great. Derek finds “the great white of tumors” and he holds a pretty intense and awesome competition to see who will scrub in. Cristina is obviously confident as hell and is sitting there yawning, stretching and making fun of everybody. It was so totally her and so smug that I just knew, I just knew that she was going to fail. I hate seeing her fail because it’s Cristina Yang and like she said when Mer failed her intern test in season three “Meredith and I don’t fail things” It is so true, Cristina does not fail and to see her standing there staring at the pen in total disbelief was heart breaking. The thing I noticed was that Jackson looked at her with this caring look that he should not be giving to anybody since he just won the competition. He shouldn’t care that she failed but he did, at least he looked like he did from my point of view. Foreshadowing for the next episode perhaps..hmm..very interesting.
Now I am going to finally be able to talk about a Cristina and Owen scene where they actually interacted and acted like a couple!! Crazy right!! Cristina is sitting alone watching Derek’s top secret surgery when a red headed hottie walks in and sits beside her, aww. He stares at her all cute and he says “I’m sorry about the contest” and Cristina is like “Who told you about that?” I just loved this exchange because 1. Owen is so cute trying to comfort her about the competition, he knows how competitive she is and wants to be there for her and 2. Cristina is adorable when she gets upset that he knows, she wants to look hardcore to him and she wants to impress him. I love Owens’ laugh when Cristina tells him that Lexie is in a diaper like can we please see more scenes of him laughing! I guess I am just so used to broken Owen from last season that seeing him laugh, which by the way is exactly how I laughed after seeing Lexie in a diaper, still makes me hang my mouth in shock. I get excited every time I even see a smile on his face and same with Cristina because well she does not smile very often. Well in this scene we get to see a little how Owen does not totally get how much Cristina wants and needs a surgery. He did not fully get it until she says that “she wants to have to pee in a diaper” I know it sounds a little crazy and quite gross but it makes sense. She just wants to be in a surgery that requires her to be hardcore and wear a diaper. She wants to be in a surgery “NASA style” Yeah that scene between Lexie and Cristina was so funny! Cristina actually telling Lexie to wear a diaper was priceless, love scenes between these two. So anyways back to Owen I think this is when he finally sees that Cristina needs a surgery and she needs it bad! Hallelujah, praise the lord, sound off the trumpets!! He gets it, he finally gets it! You go Owen and you go make your lady happy.
Now we have our second scene and this is the one that made me squeal out loud at how adorable this couple is. Owen paged Cristina and she is a little upset because she was napping. I remember a time when Cristina would not even sleep for 48 whole hours just so she can possibly get a surgery, now she is napping? What? Well that nap was a good idea because her awesome boyfriend got her a 12 hour or possible 15 hour surgery. Commence the aww’s and total jealousy for Cristina having the best boyfriend ever. I wish a guy would get me a 15 hour surgery..no wait..I don’t I take that back, scratch that last train of thought. Cristina is like a little girl in this scene getting a new toy, her face after he says “Go, gear up” is pure joy. She looks so happy and the look between the two of them is love and a half. Yes they get not only love but love and a half. Now comes the best and funniest scene of the episode, when Cristina and Lexie are walking down the hall both wearing hardcore diapers and having the most brilliant expressions on their face. It was awesome with the music and everything but we all know that soon Cristina is going to be very disappointed. Owen comes to tell her in their third scene that Derek needs the OR and that their surgery is canceled. Cristina looks so sad and I felt so bad for her. Seriously, can’t this girl catch a dam break. Owen looks hilarious when she says she put on a diaper and I know he did not want to do this to her. I was a little mad at Derek but he was saving a life so I guess I forgive him, would of been nice to see Owen and Cristina in a surgery together though…stupid Derek…no not his fault..saving life…stupid tumor! There that is better blame the tumor, I think that is always the best choice.
Owen is getting more lovable every episode not only by the way he treats Cristina but by how he treats everybody who works with him. He wanted to give Izzie a chance after the cancer thing and show people that she is still a great surgeon. He helped George last season to see what an awesome trauma doctor he could be and made George feel alive again. Now, he is helping Derek in any way that he possibly can even if it means disappointing his girlfriend and going against his boss. This man has loyalty. I think that is why Cristina and Owen are so perfect for one another, they have total loyalty to their friends and to one another. I just like seeing Owen with the other attendings and seeing how he is such a big part of the hospital now. He has friends and is a part of them, he will do what it takes to defend his fellow attendings. Poor guy gets himself in a bit of a pickle though when he says that he is not in surgery to the chief because Callie needed the OR. And who pops around the corner, none other then Callie herself. Luckily Arizona is there to save the day! I am sorry but her speech was epic and Owen looked almost as shocked as Callie did. Love these attendings together, it is pure genius.
Now for our final scene and yes people we get some physical contact. Maybe it is not a kiss or anything like that but beggars can’t be choosers right. Cristina is practicing the pen thing because as I always say practice makes perfect. Owen knows her only to well to know that she would be in there and he tells her “You’re standing too close”. Aww he is going to help her. Cristina does not believe him and even calls his hands hams like this woman is too funny. I have heard of people getting mad about this comment but it is Cristina and she is not saying it to hurt him. Things like this just come out of her mouth sometimes, she can not control it and come on guys it was quite hi-larious if I must say so myself. And I am going to say so because this is my review and you can’t do anything about it so there! Yes I am five years old… Okay so when Owen walks up and positions her body, did anybody else feel their stomach tighten because I did. I seriously felt my heart pounding faster when I saw this and felt this immense love surround me. It is just this little scene that made me see how much chemistry this couple still has and that they can get through it all. Cristina helped Owen last season and now he is there to help her. Well after Owen’s magic and sexy touch, Cristina gets the pen on the nose literally. I was so happy and I love the little smile she gives Owen, just that is enough to thank him. In my mind she turns and kisses him but my mind has a life of its own so I can not really blame it.
Well that is it for episode 6.07 and it was a great one! I not only loved the Owina scenes but the whole episode was very good with Derek, Arizona, Alex, etc. I am very excited for this next episode and looking at the promos, it is going to be a good one! I am a little nervous but I know that Owen and Cristina will pull through. No fight or anything else will tear them apart, they love each other. They are great together and will be there for one another always. I always say to keep the faith so I say to all of you Owen and Cristina fans to keep the faith, screw the spoilers and enjoy the show as it happens. Amanda, this review was both hilarious and so true! lol I loved it! Owen really is the greatest boyfriend ever. Him giving Cristina that 12-15 hour surgery was amazing! I had the biggest smile on my face at that part, too bad they couldn’t actually do it. And the sexy coaching at the end..WOW!
