KH is Dog’s Best Friend.

By Sarahe | December 23, 2009 |

It seems like this Christmas that Katherine Heigl is answering a whole bunch of little doggie’s prayers! :)

Have a read of this press release;

From designer gowns to designer hounds – Editors’ Closet is helping to make the holidays a little more chic for animals in search of a forever home. On Monday, December 21st, the private fashion club will transform its website into a platform for pet adoption, thanks to an innovative collaboration with Heigl Hounds of Hope, the ASPCA® and the Bark Avenue Foundation. With great passion for animal advocacy, president and CEO of Editors’ Closet, Michael Meerzoumen, is channeling his energy into making a difference in the lives of homeless animals. On Monday morning, the site’s 222,000 members will be presented with the most in vogue of adoptable pets available in both New York City and Los Angeles.

“We in the fashion industry have such a power to influence, that using our voice as a way to educate should be a given,” said Editors’ Closet CEO, Michael Meerzoumen. “We’re working with a few very special adoption programs like Katherine Heigl’s Hounds of Hope. Her foundation’s mission is especially exciting to us.”

Katherine and mother Nancy Heigl founded The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation in memory of their brother and son to increase awareness of the inhumane treatment of animals. Their program, Heigl Hounds of Hope, focuses on rescuing medium to large dogs from high-kill shelters throughout Southern California and having them professionally trained in preparation for new homes.

“We applaud Editors’ Closet for bringing awareness to the pet overpopulation crisis and for supporting the efforts of the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation,” said Heigl, actress and celebrity activist.

Also excited to be joining the event is the New York City ASPCA® , a national leader in the areas of anti-cruelty, community outreach and animal health services and the Bark Avenue Foundation, a non-profit committed to reducing overpopulation through spay/neuter, humane education, rescue and re-homing. Editors’ Closet continues to challenge the capabilities of online sample sale communities. In conjunction with their unprecedented adoption event, Editors’ Closet will be partnering with Fatboy USA in offering interested adopters access to an exciting collection of designer pet accessories and toys; fifteen percent of the sale’s proceeds will be donated directly to the three adoption centers.
With inspiring efforts from an array of influential groups, it seems that pets everywhere may have a reason to be merry this season.
