Though things are a little sticky between these two on-screen, they seem to have no problem hanging out off the screen. Check out a bit of this recent Glamour interview with Sarah Drew and Jerrika Hinton!
After 10 seasons on the air, Grey’s Anatomy is still giving us “OMG, what just happened?!” moments—and none so front and center than April’s recent wedding and the Jackson/Stephanie/April/Matthew aftermath. Earlier this week, Sarah Drew (April) and Jerrika Hinton (Stephanie) joined me for an afternoon of delicious pizza at Stella Barra in Hollywood to talk about what’s going to happen, what did happen, and the real-life lessons they’ve learned about life, love, and relationships.
Glamour: Let’s dive right into this: What did you think about the time jump from Jackson interrupting the vows to when we see April and Jackson running out of the chapel?
Jerrika Hinton: As an audience member, I wanted to see the immediate aftermath.
Sarah Drew: I agree. I would have liked to have seen it, but I think it’s too horrible to show.
Jerrika: That’s exactly why I want to see it!
Sarah: But you wouldn’t be able to enjoy Jackson and April’s joy if you saw them ruining other people’s lives first. And at that moment, Jackson and April aren’t embracing reality. They’re residing in a bubble. So I think it makes sense in that regard, but…
Glamour: Can April and Stephanie ever be friendly towards one another again?
Jerrika: They are co-workers and haven’t had a lot of buddy moments.
Sarah: I think that they’re going to have to [get along] because that’s the nature of the work they do, but it’s going to be awful.

Check out TVLine‘s recent interview with Sarah Drew as they discuss the goings on of April’s decision in last night’s all new episode of Grey’s Anatomy, “Take It Back”! If you have not watched it, you may not wanna go any further!
Below, the woman at the center of the matrimonial kerfuffle, April’s portrayer Sarah Drew, expresses her own shock and awe about the surprising turn of events, admits to being bummed that Jackson and April’s wedding took place off screen, reveals the whereabouts of jilted groom Matthew, and previews the immense obstacles that await the newlyweds (hint: their honeymoon period will be short-lived).
TVLINE | I have to say, I thought I was watching a dream sequence when Jackson and April ran out of that barn alone. Were you taken aback by that yourself?
I knew it was coming from the beginning of this season, so it wasn’t a shock to me. I was like, “Oh, so we’re not going to actually see anything happen [inside] the barn? We’re not going to see that conversation [between April and Matthew] happen? It’s just the barn doors open and there you go?’” [Laughs]
TVLINE | My theory for why they didn’t show us what happened in that barn is it was just too damn ugly for broadcast television audiences.
[Laughs] I would totally agree with that! I think it would be so painful; you couldn’t actually enjoy April and Jackson being together. It’d just be too much.
TVLINE | I have a sinking feeling that poor Stephanie is going to be the first one to find out that they’re married.
[Nervous laughter] I can’t say!

From EVERWOOD to DARIA, Sarah Drew has an incredible resume. Her most notable work, as the church-going surgeon on GREY’S ANATOMY is impeccable! And she has a new movie “Mom’s Night Out” coming out soon! I spoke with the GREY’S ANATOMY star about the show, what her hopes are for April and how she feels about the frustrating, addicting, and mesmerizing chemistry between her character and Jackson Avery. As well as her latest role, playing Allyson in Mom’s Night Out.
April has changed so much since we first saw her a few season back, how has your preparation as an actor changed?
Sarah Drew: My preparation hasn’t really changed. I’ve just sort of evolved with her. I think she has become a little bit more like me, which sometimes happens when you play a role for a long time.
What do you want to happen to April, what challenges would you like to see her go through, how would you like to see her handle the things that are happening in her life?
I would like to see her continue to own who she is, to hold her ground and to speak up for the things she cares about. Her journey has been one of sometime coming out of hiding and I have loved seeing that. I would like for her to continue to come into her own and be comfortable in her own skin. I would also like her to own her flaws, take responsibility for them, but not be paralyzed by guilt about them. That would be cool.
Can you tell us a little bit about your character Allyson in your upcoming film, Mom’s Night Out?
Allyson is a stressed out mom of three who feels like she is just not enough for anybody. I think she is a deeply relatable character. I think any mom out there will see a piece of themselves in Ally.

USA Today (via it’s high school sports section) recently scored a great interview with Sarah Drew! And there’s quite a few factoids she reveals about herself that we’d be surprised anyone knew about! Give it a whirl!
Grey’s Anatomy actress Sarah Drew played how many different sports!?
Sarah Drew totally gets why hearing her say that she’s getting her 2-year-old son Micah ready to walk out the door for his doctor’s appointment just sounds, well, odd.
Especially when she’s one of the most well-known doctors in America… Well, at least her fictional character on Grey’s Anatomy, April Kepner, is.
“Yeah I’ve gotta take him to the real doctor,” Drew said with a laugh. “I let the professionals handle the checkups.”
Still, don’t think for a second that Drew is hands-off; not a woman who’s played 17 different sports and weld’s so frequently that she’s burned two pairs of pants in the process.
“Pretty crazy,” Drew said.
I caught up with Drew to chop-it-up about everything from what fans can expect when Grey’s Anatomy premieres on Feb. 27 to her new movie Moms’ Night Out to which female character on the show would win an all-girls Grey’s Anatomy UFC tournament.
JJ: Sounds like it; now you went to Stony Brook School in Long Island, N.Y., did you play sports there?
SD: I did because I was required too. We didn’t have gym so we had to play a sport every term. I played like 17 different sports because I never liked any of them so I kept trying different sports to see if one would register. I was a diver, I swam, I ran cross country, track, soccer… My favorite was probably fencing, but it was because I was pretending that I was in a movie and I was learning a skill for my future as an actress. I played sports in elementary school and I liked it, but I was so focused on theatre in high school that adding sports required me to have no social life. I was cramming homework in every five seconds I had available between athletic practices and rehearsals.
JJ: What’s your favorite app?
SD: My Netflix app!
JJ: Which female character on the show would win an all-girls Grey’s Anatomy UFC tournament?
SD: Jo Wilson! Jo Wilson, who’s played by Camilla Luddington. No question. She grew up on the streets and she’s scrappy and she beat the crap out of a guy. She would totally win. I might get a few good punches in there if I was riled up. I did punch a guy in the face on the show; you saw that! I think my character April could hold her own, but in the end Jo Wilson would just wipe the floor with everybody.
